Its unique medallion and birds and flowers design is crafted using a soft, thick wool pile on a durable cotton foundation, making it practical and hard-wearing.

Today, the old town of Senneh is called Sanandaj. It is situated in Kurdistan, in the northwest. For centuries, the Kurdish people have been weaving beautiful rugs and carpets in traditional red and blue with a distinctive pattern of multiple diamond medallions interwoven with the Herati design. The wool is of a beautiful quality with a lovely sheen and is woven onto a cotton foundation. Sennehs characteristically have a very rough back, almost like sandpaper.

The company's provenance and the rug are worth considering when buying online.
